- People Who Help Us at School
- Going for Goals
- People Who Help Us and Our Animals to Get Better
- Police Officers Help Us
- Journeys I made in my half-term holiday
- How I get to school and what I see on the way
- Cars
Reception BIG WRITE Talk Home Learning
Friday 19th March 2010
Talking is an important aspect of preparation for writing. Not only does it help us to think clearly, but talking can also motivate us and stimulate new ideas.
So in preparation for BIG WRITE each Monday, we would like all children to talk to one or two adults at home about a different topic each week.
Please make sure two adults sign below having talked to your child about the topic. This can be in a very informal manner and does not need to take lots of your time.
This week we have read the story of ‘Mr Gumpy’s Outing’ by John Burningham. The children have had great fun acting it out, with a range of people taking on a variety of roles. They rose to the challenge of our year group assembly today and have continued to use the props in their child initiated learning. Please continue to discuss the storyline with your child. In our Big Write lesson, we will be writing a recount of the story, where children will choose a sentence to rewrite the actions of all the characters. Wow words this week might include: teased, tipped, owned, squabble, chase, bleating, trample etc.
